It's time to show two local families in our community that Bikers Have Heart.

On Saturday, May 6, we'll hold our 5th annual Bikers Have Heart Yahtzee Run to raise money for two local kids with leukemia. Connor Wick, a fifth grader from Grants Pass , and Berkley Connor, a senior at Eagle Point High School , are this year's recipients. (Download flyer PDF)

You don't have to know how to play Yahtzee; you don't even have to ride a bike to help. Just show up at either the Rogue Valley Mall or Three Rivers Community Hospital between 10 a.m. and noon , and enjoy the ride around Southern Oregon . Or show up at D&S around 2 p.m. to eat, drink, listen to the band and bid on auction items.

Our Two Bikers Have Heart Kids
Connor Wick
Connor attends Parkside Elementary he likes to fish, skateboard, ride bikes and play baseball. But he hasn't been able to do any of those things since he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on Jan. 23. He is 11 years old, and the son of Paula Wick and Joe Wick.

Berkley  turned 18 on Feb. 11 -- three months after he was diagnosed with ALL. He will graduate from EPHS next June, but has to be home-schooled while he goes through chemotherapy. For his senior project, he is working with a law firm in New York to pass a law that will allow minors to make their own decisions about cancer treatments. Berkley enjoys riding dirt bikes, rafting, reading and playing video games. He hopes to someday study nuclear medicine or computer technology. He is the son of Callie and Berkley Connor Sr. in Shady Cove.
One Yahtzee hand is only $15, but you're encouraged to gather pledges for this year's event. (Download a pledge sheet PDF or RTF) Have your friends and co-workers make their checks to either:

• Benefit of Berkley Connor Jr. (a medical fund at Washington Mutual in Shady Cove)

• or the Conner Wick Donation Account (a medical account at Rogue Federal Credit Union)

Our goal for this event is $10,000. We know that's a lot of money, but we also know that our customers have the biggest hearts in Southern Oregon . These two boys and their famiiles are dealing with the expenses of chemotherapy, lab tests and constant trips to Doernbecher's Hospital in Portland . Let's show them we care.

D&S Harley-Davidson and the local folks at Pepsi have teamed up to donate a brand new FXSTI Softail® Standard -- with 100% of the proceeds going to the Pediatrics Center at Rogue Valley Medical Center , and the Birth Center at Three Rivers Community Hospital .

Tickets are only $20, and will be sold through Saturday, July 8. You can buy them at the D&S Parts Counter. For more information, call us at 541-535-5515, or call the RVMC Foundation office at 541-789-5025.

Help us help two local kids who are living with leukemia.

This year's Bikers Have Heart event will benefit Connor Wick, a fifth grader at Parkside Elementary in Grants Pass , and Berkley Connor, a senior at Eagle Point High School . Both boys were recently diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, and need some help meeting medical and personal expenses.

You can contribute in three ways. First, show up Saturday, May 6, for our annual Bikers Have Heart Yahtzee Run. You can start the ride either in Medford or Grants Pass. Just make sure you end up here at the dealership for the last roll of the dice and the party afterward. We'll have live music, an auction, raffle and more. (If you can't make the ride, or don't even ride a motorcycle, you're still welcome at the party!)

Second, donate directly to our event. Send us a check, drop by some cash, or donate merchandise or services for our auction and raffle that day. (For more information on how to do that, contact kim@dsharley.com)

The third way to contribute is to buy a new 2006 Harley-Davidson by Saturday, May 6. Give us a $100 donation to Bikers Have Heart, and we'll give you a $500 shopping spree. You can buy some new shiny chrome for that bike or shiny leather for your body. The only catch is that it must be in stock. (No special orders, no discount on service labor or the price of the bike.)

Our goal for this event is $10,000. Let's let these two kids know that their community cares.

We've changed our date for the Day For Women Who Ride. It will now be held Saturday, May 27. The day will include morning seminars, lunch, and a ride in the afternoon. We're hoping the date change will give us a chance at better weather. Cost is a $10 donation to the Susan Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation. For more information, contact Terrie Claflin at 541-535-5515, ext. 1002, or terrie@dsharley.com

Zip us a photo or a tall tale about your latest Harley-Davidson adventure. We'd love to hear what's new with you...
