Road Capt.'s Report

Five hardy individuals, Dave Sanders, Dale Smith, Mike Johnson, Bill Beagle and guest Sam Powell joined the RC for a great ride to Patrick Creek Lodge and back (6 hours).

We left at 9:35 a.m. with clearing clouds and a chilly temperature but soon we had clear skies and a warming sun. We traveled through the Applegate and Illinois valleys, down the Smith River canyon passing fast waters with views of snow covered mountains in the near and far distance.

Brunch at Patrick Creek Lodge was outstanding with too much food. Selections ranged from scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and biscuits with gravy to BBQ ribs, prime rib, small lobsters, cheese blintzes, strawberry shortcake, chocolate cake, éclairs  and much more. We were all virtuous and passed on the champagne but over ate.

Fishermen in the group vowed to return and try for fish in the river and creek near the lodge.

It was such a nice day that we returned through the Applegate valley, but on the east side, and took the sports bike highway from Little Applegate to Griffin Creek.
